BEACHCOMBER
App, User Experience
This project creates an application for the activity of beachcombing. People can not only learn the relevant knowledge of beachcombing, but also use it in the process of beachcombing. Most importantly, it subtly promotes environmental protection of the ocean.
On Earth, oceans cover approximately 71% of the Earth's surface, but humans have only explored 5% of the oceans. It is the collective name for the most extensive body of water on Earth. The earth's surface area is 510 million square kilometers, of which 71% is ocean and 29% is land.
⚠️ Environmental Damage
Currently, humans produce about 430 million tons of plastic every year, two-thirds of which quickly becomes waste. Studies show that large amounts of plastic waste are polluting lakes, rivers and oceans. If no effective action is taken, it is expected that 23 to 37 million tons of plastic waste will enter aquatic ecosystems every year by 2040, equivalent to 50 kilograms of plastic waste for every meter of coastline around the world.
Beachcombing
In addition, the popularity of the activity among the entire new generation of young people is gradually increasing. Regardless of the fact that the older generation of coastal residents once made a living by fishing for seafood, today's young people have regarded it as a recreational activity. Taking China as an example, a large number of different videos of people beachcombing have emerged on major social media. This kind of video gets a lot of views. After watching these videos, people said they were "very relieved" or "learned a lot of biological knowledge they didn't know before", which made them want to go to the beach to explore by themselves.
It is known from the above data. First of all, most people are very interested in beachcombing. Secondly, most people who have participated in beachcombing had a bad experience due to inconvenient access to information. Finally, most people are aware of environmental issues, but action is still not enough.
